.Cartel Hair Studio / SoHo, New York
Holistic transformation from head to toe
A barbershop and hair salon on Wooster Street, run as a community rather than a queue. Cut, beard and color are planned as one conversation, in a room where people stay for the coffee after the chair is free.

01 / The studio
A shop that behaves like a neighbourhood, not a conveyor belt
.Cartel started from a straightforward frustration: grooming in this city had become efficient and impersonal. Fifteen minutes, no conversation, no memory of you between visits.
So we built the opposite. Chairs are booked with enough room around them to actually talk. Your cut, your beard and your color are held by people who know what you had last time and what you said about it afterwards. Nothing gets rushed toward the next appointment.
The rest is the room itself. People arrive early, stay late, and end up talking to whoever is in the next chair. That is the part we are most protective of, and the reason the door is open every single day of the week.
Head to toe means one conversation about all of it, with the same people accountable for the result.
02 / Why people come back
Three things we will not compromise on
- 01
Seven days a week
Barbers on the floor every day, so the cut fits around your week instead of your week bending around the cut.
- 02
Head to toe
One holistic consultation covering cut, color and beard together, rather than three disconnected appointments with three strangers.
- 03
Booked in a minute
Send a request online at any hour of the night and we come back to confirm your chair by phone or email.
